Sue Smith

Sue is a numbers and people person at heart. For over two and a half decades, she’s been in government and industry accounting, finance, and human resources management. She’s worked with a range of companies, from Fortune 500s to small businesses, and has a knack for making sure everything is balanced and running smoothly. But Sue’s expertise goes beyond numbers. She’s been a human resources pro for two decades, managing everything from daily employee tasks to complex employee benefit packages like payroll, health insurance, retirement plans, and labor law compliance. She’s even been recognized for her exceptional performance and leadership by the United States Army for her accomplishments and commitment to detail.

Sue has a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree, an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree with a Concentration in Accounting, and a Certified Bookkeeper’s Certificate. She’s also certified by the AIPB in bookkeeping, inventory, depreciation, payroll, internal controls, and fraud prevention. And guess what? She’s even an approved candidate for the Uniform CPA Examination by the Maryland Board of Public Accountancy!

Sue is a top-notch speaker, recognized for her expertise in impromptu and public speaking. She’s a fierce advocate for small businesses and anyone who needs a voice. She’s dedicated to volunteering for various 501(c)3s and business advisory boards, and she’s also spent years teaching primary education.

Sue is a member of the Maryland Society of Accounting and Tax Professionals and the American Institute of Professional Bookkeepers.

Don’t let Sue’s “by the book” personality fool you. She’s a wild card! She holds a Maryland Class M license endorsement and loves jet skiing in the Atlantic Ocean, snorkeling in the Caribbean Sea, zip lining through the Great Smokey Mountains, and any other outdoor adventure that involves water and sunshine. She’s a wanderlust soul and spends her time exploring National and State Parks. While she appreciates the beauty of the Great Smokey Mountains, she’s a coastal southern belle at heart. Huntington Beach State Park, SC, home of the Atalaya Castle and Southern Assateague Island National Seashore, speaks to her soul.

After years of working as a corporate executive in financial and human resources management, Sue discovered her true passion in supporting small businesses. Born and raised in rural Western Maryland, she grew up witnessing the challenges and struggles of running a small business firsthand. Sue’s roots, education, and experience are the foundation of her strong desire to be an advocate and partner helping small business owners succeed.
